Mealio ("we", "us") provides a reservation system used by restaurants to manage bookings. When you make a reservation through our widget, we act as a data processor on behalf of the restaurant you are booking with.

2. What data we collect

When you make a reservation, we collect:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• Party size (number of adults, children, and any accessibility needs or pets)
• Reservation date, time, and duration
• Any special requests you provide
• Payment details (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store your full card details)

3. Why we collect this data

Your data is used to:

• Process and confirm your reservation
• Send you booking confirmation and reminder messages (transactional, not marketing)
• Communicate with you about your reservation if needed
• Process any deposit or payment required to secure your booking

We do not use your data for marketing purposes. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except as necessary to provide the service (e.g., Stripe for payments).

4. Lawful basis for processing

We process your personal data on the basis of contractual necessity — the data is required to fulfil your reservation booking. For transactional messages (confirmation and reminders), we rely on legitimate interest.

5. How long we keep your data

Reservation data is retained for a reasonable period after your booking date to handle any disputes, financial reconciliation, and legal obligations. After this period, it is securely deleted.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (right to be forgotten)
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability

7. Cookies

Our reservation widget uses only essential cookies (session and Stripe payment processing). We do not use tracking or analytics cookies on the widget.
